Washington Square Inn is located in close proximity to many wonderful North Beach restaurants. Guests will be pleased to discover that the neighborhood has a high concentration of very good restaurants. There are many Italian restaurants (of course) but also California cuisine, French and as you venture closer to China Town, you will find many Chinese, Vietnamese, & Japanese as well.
We are sure that you will enjoy all that San Francisco, CA has to offer including some of the most multi-cultural restaurants and cafes in the city. Our favorites include Mooses, La Folie, Rose Pistola, North Beach Restaurant, Frascati, Allegro Romano, Zarzuela, Ideale, Hyde Street Bistro and The House. Our staff will be sure to reserve dinner at one of our favorites
La Folie:
One of San Francisco's finest restaurants and
recipient of a coveted Michelin star (should have been two!), Lyonnais chef
Roland Passot creates a table of delicacies whose flavors and beauty will
linger long after in your memory! Although La Folie presents several diverse
prix fixe menus, exploiting different seasons and tastes, the staff will
encourage you to freely choose from any of the menus to create your own
three-to-five course dining extravaganza (even vegetarian!)--which you can
joyfully complement from their excellent wine list. This is a very special
restaurant of high quality and value.
Every dish is as beautiful as the last, punctuated by
the various "surprises" which introduce and round off your evening
experience.
We have dined several times at La Folie and have
always come away singing its praises.

HYDE STREET BISTRO:
Born in Lyon and raised in Alsace,
Yannick Cuindoz has created a great French
bistrot whose ambiance will remind you of wonderful evenings and culinary
delights in France. This is a small restaurant where the young owner is likely to
greet you at the door and take care of you throughout the evening. Choose from
wonderful terrines, unusual salades and other delicacies among the first
courses ("entrées"), then plunge into a savory main course either by
sea or by land. Yannick will guide you through his small, but extremely
well-chosen wine list: We remember once starting with a surprisingly aromatic
Macon-Fuissé, then a full and deep Château Cap Léon Veyzin Bordeaux which we nurtured
for the latter part of the meal. The desserts
are also as memorable as they are French. This restaurant offers a quiet and
relaxed dinner environment which will charm you. Website;

Allegro Romano:
Chef Lorenzo of Tre
Scalini fame on Piazza Navona offers a great dinner experience at Allegro
Romano, which he transports from Rome to Jones Street atop the Broadway Tunnel.
One can order a la carte, but the real joy is having the house speciality: a
five-course meal consisting of antipasti, pasta, meat, fish, and dessert (yes,
in that order--Lorenzo recommended to us that the fish come after the meat!).
Every dish was beautiful,
savory, and plentiful. The wine-by-the-carafe was fantastic: first a white
Veneto, then a Toscano red. Dinner tastes and feels like an evening on Piazza
Navona itself! Owner-Chef Lorenzo parades up and down the restaurant making
sure that everyone is happy, and the rest of the staff is also very attentive
and wonderful to be with. This is a great place for an intimate dinner or a big
table feast with family and friends. Very highly recommended. http://www.allegroromano.com/html/about.htm
